Spinach 'Géant d'Hiver' (Winter Spinach)

Latin name: Spinacia oleracea L.

Spinach 'Géant d'Hiver' is a robust and cold-hardy variety that thrives well in cool temperatures and can be grown in late autumn and overwintered in mild climates. It has large, dark green, crispy leaves with a mild flavour and is perfect for salads, soups, stews and stir-fries.

Cultivation information:

  • Packaging: 100 seeds
  • Sowing time: August–October (autumn sowing) or March–May (spring sowing)
  • Harvest time: October–March (autumn sowing), May–June (spring sowing)
  • Sowing depth: 1–2 cm
  • Plant distance: 10–15 cm
  • Row spacing: 25–30 cm
  • Location: Sun to partial shade
  • Soil type: Nutrient-rich, moisture-retaining but well-drained soil
  • Watering: Regular, keep the soil moist but avoid waterlogging

Cultivation tips:

  • Sow in batches for continuous harvest.
