Variety for greenhouses. Parthenocarpic variety. The plant only produces female flowers and these develop into cucumbers without fertilization. The growth habit is like that of a common cucumber. Produces many, short fruits, about 15 cm. Good fresh on sandwiches or in salads. Cultivation: Sow indoors in seedbed soil. One seed per pot. The germination temperature must be high: 22-24 degrees, then 17-18 degrees. Plant in a greenhouse, in a bed or pot, about 5 weeks after sowing. Use lukewarm water when watering. Water moderately. A moist soil surface causes the stem to rot. Tie up the plants gradually. When the plant has grown about 150 cm tall, top it by pinching off the growth point above a pair of leaves. For cucumbers, this means that the plant cannot grow any more upwards but instead branches after this topping. Top earlier if the plant does not set side shoots. The side shoots are topped when fruits have formed at the leaf axils, leaving two leaves after each fruit. By topping the plants in this way, you promote moisture retention and get a larger harvest.
