Snowball X is a medium variety suitable for summer and autumn harvest. It produces large, approximately 1.3 kg, snow-white heads that are tightly enclosed by large leaves. Perfect for eating immediately after harvest.

How to grow Cauliflower - Snowball X from seed

Pre-cultivation in greenhouse

1. Sowing depth: 0.5 cm.
2. Sowing time: January – March.
3. Sowing instructions:
   • Sow the seeds in seed boxes or pots with well-drained soil.
   • Place the seed in a bright area with a temperature of around 15-18°C.
   • Water evenly and avoid drying out. The seeds usually germinate within 7–12 days.

Sow directly outdoors

1. Sowing time: 20 May – June.
2. Sowing depth: 0.5 cm.
3. Location: Sunny location with nutritious and moist soil.

Planting out seedlings

1. Planting time: April 20 – May and July.
2. Plant spacing: 50–60 x 50 cm.
3. Location: Choose a sunny to semi-shady location with nutritious and well-drained soil.

Care and maintenance

1. Watering: Keep the soil moist but avoid overwatering.
2. Fertilization:
   • Fertilize regularly with a nitrogen-rich fertilizer to support head development.
3. Protection:
   • Fold the leaves over the head to protect it from discoloration in strong sunlight.

Harvest

1. Harvest period: June – July and September – October.
2. Harvest tips:
   • Harvest the head when it is compact, snow-white and fully developed, but before it begins to crack or flower.
   • Cut off the head with a sharp knife, leaving some protective leaves behind for longer shelf life.
