Squirrel grain – 'Green'
Hordeum jubatum L.

One of the most beautiful ornamental grasses , with feathery spikes and long, silky bristles that often shimmer in light green with pink tips . Squirrel grass gives an airy and poetic feel to the flowerbed, and is just as beautiful in a pot as in bouquets – fresh or dried.

Thrives best in a sunny location , and is easy to grow for both beginners and garden aesthetes.

Cultivation & Care:

  • Sowing period: April–May

    • Indoors: Pre-cultivate in seedbed, replant in clumps of 4–5 plants

    • Direct sowing: Possible when the soil is warm

  • Planting outdoors: When the risk of night frost is over
