New Zealand spinach – durable summer harvest all season long
Tetragonia tetragonoides
An easy-to-grow and heat-tolerant leafy vegetable that provides a bountiful harvest all summer long – perfect as a replacement for regular spinach when the weather gets hot. 'New Zealand' is nutritious, cold-tolerant at first and drought-tolerant later , and the leaves are used just like spinach: lightly cooked, in soups, stews or blanched and frozen .
Harvest leaves gradually over several months. Thrives best in partial shade with a steady supply of water and nutrients.
