Iceberg Lettuce 'Great Lakes 228'

Lactuca sativa

A late maturing, dark green iceberg lettuce characterized by its large, dense and high quality heads. This variety matures about 80 days after sowing.

One package contains 2 grams of seeds, which corresponds to approximately 2400 seeds. (+/- 20%)

Cultivation from seed or seedlings

  • Pre-cultivation: Start in March under cover material for earlier harvest.
  • Direct sowing: Sow outdoors from April to June. For continuous supply of lettuce, sow new seeds every 2-3 weeks.
  • Sowing depth: 0.5–1 cm.
  • Plant spacing: Plant or so with 35–40 cm between plants and rows.
  • Soil requirements: Light, nutritious, humus-rich and evenly moist soil.
  • Location: Sunny or semi-shady.
  • Watering: Keep the soil moist, especially during hot periods.
